A resident of Cambridge, MA, Stefanie Lubkowski studied flute, organ, and piano as a child before moving on to a ten-year love affair with the classical guitar. Her early compositional efforts involved developing unusual timbres on her mother’s Wurlitzer organ and independent study in her high school electronic music studio. These early explorations nurtured Stefanie’s concern for the cumulative sonic world inherent in every piece, while literary narratives, avant-garde cultural movements, and periodic pop music fixations guide her thematic trajectories. Stefanie Lubkowski received her masters degree in composition from New England Conservatory, where she studied with Pozzi Escot and Lee Hyla. She received her bachelor’s degree in Music and Technology and Guitar Performance from Connecticut College, in New London, CT.  Stefanie’s past teachers also include Noel Zahler and Ketty Nez.

Stefanie has written for orchestra, voice, various chamber ensembles, and electronic media. She has been commissioned by Auros Group for New Music, Ashleigh Gordon, and Anthology. Currently, she is pursuing a DMA in composition at Boston University. Stefanie has been on the New Gallery Concert Series Board of Directors since 2010.
